This monitor is thought to be useful for interfacing to external simple monitors - they can write their status to a file rather than careing about TCP connections to Status Collectors, e.g.:

echo "status myhost.mytest green wow - everything is ok" >adm/mystatus \ echo "status myhost.oterh yellow something went wrong" >> adm/mystatus
