The Novell® iFolder® client controls the synchronization of files in your local iFolder directory with those in your iFolder account directory on the iFolder server.
You must install and configure the iFolder client on your workstation before you can use it. The first time you log in to the iFolder server, iFolder creates and activates an iFolder account for you on the server. For installation and configuration instructions, see the Quick Start Card.
IMPORTANT: Your iFolder administrator sets iFolder client and server policies that govern which features and settings of the iFolder client you can personalize and which are mandatory. Some of the options mentioned in the iFolder Client Help might be disabled, based on the policies set for your account.
The iFolder client session must be active to track and log any changes you make to the files in your local iFolder directory. You do not need to log in to the iFolder server until you are ready to synchronize files.
Meet the following conditions to synchronize your files using the iFolder client:
The iFolder client session must be active
Your workstation must be connected to an active Internet or network connection and your Web browser set to work online
The iFolder server must be available
You must successfully log in to the iFolder server
If you are having trouble logging in to the iFolder server, contact your iFolder administrator.
When an iFolder client session is active, the iFolder client places an iFolder icon in the system tray of your workstation's desktop. Right-click the iFolder icon to access the iFolder client pop-up menu for commands and options to manage your iFolder account.
A limited set of commands is available if you are not logged in to your iFolder account:
