Using a Proxy Server with Novell iFolder

In an enterprise that uses the Internet, a proxy server acts as an intermediary between you and the Internet so that the enterprise is kept secure. To you, the proxy server is invisible; all Internet requests and returned responses appear to be directly with the Internet server you are querying. However, the proxy is not quite invisible; its IP address must be specified as a configuration in the browser or, in this case, when logging in to the Novell® iFolder® server.

Specifying Your Proxy Server

You can connect to the iFolder server through a known proxy server.

  1. In the Login dialog box, click Set Proxy.

  2. Enter the IP address or DNS name and the port of your proxy Novell iFolder server.

If you do not know this information, ask your network administrator.

  3. Click OK.

Proxy Login

If you connect to your iFolder server through a proxy server, a third dialog box opens to get your network User ID and password.
